The recent scientific findings about the role of Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) in acne vulgaris, have opened the path for development of a new, highly specific and efficacious acne therapy. A vaccine that would support human immune system to more effectively control  P. acnes growth in the skin and prevent its spread into the interior, will provide not just a more efficient treatment for acne, but also the prevention of acne and, thereby, of long-term scar formation. Therefore, both therapeutic and prophylactic immunotherapy is possible.

The anticipated benefits of our immunotherapy against P. acnes include:

  • More effective treatment and eventially cure
  • Lower costs (no need for a constant daily application)
  • Long-term effect
  • Regulating the growth of P. acnes (not disturbing normal bacterial skin flora)
  • Can be combined with existing acne therapies such as agents regulating oil/sebum
secretion or hormonal hyperactivity
  • Not inducing unwanted side-effects
  • Prophylactic application possible, prevention of scars
